Bloody BT Actually Saved Me...
Dear Juliet
One thought about British bloody Telecom (BT).
They actually saved everything.
After losing my order three times, billing me wrongly and
leaving me hanging on the telephone longer than Blondie, BT finally delivered
broadband unto me. For them, that was quite efficient. For me, it was the kind
of options-riddled neuro-typical nonsense which makes many Autists want to go
hide in a corner.
It is difficult enough for us to make sense of the world
when things are clear, consistent and transparent; damnable when the world is
unclear, inconsistent and opaque.
It is no fun for neuro-typicals either, but for Autists it
is even worse.
Finally, though, I was hooked up to the wired world, and as
the BT engineer was leaving, he mentioned he’d been able to give me access to
my old dial-up email account.
I am glad he did. Events might have turned out a little
differently otherwise.
(Dear Miss Landau)
If I hadn't been given access to my old account, I'd never have found your original email, we'd never have got back into contact, I might not have trekked across America and Dear Miss Landau would probably never have been written.
One little comment, made just as he was going out the door, and it changed our future.
Just thought I'd mention. It's very late, although the clocks are going back shortly, or I'd extrapolate things a bit more. But that's basically it.
Time doesn't always have to be the fire in which we burn...
Love,
James
